Let the Word Work

This week, I would like to share with you another Psalm that can bring comfort in the midst of pain. Titled “Confidence in God’s Protection,” the first half of Psalm 61 serves as both a prayer of lament and a prayer of poise. As I’m writing this, I am well aware that I have a need for this Scripture right now, and I will meditate on this through the upcoming week. I am sharing a couple of translations that are most powerful to me at this moment.

I hope that through my sharing of these passages, you don’t simply just read them - you incorporate them into your own prayers. When we are unable to create our own words during difficult times, we must allow the Word to do what it was meant to do - penetrate us to our deepest parts, and give us powerful and unaltered messages to send up back up to God.

Psalm 61:1-4 (AMP)

Hear my cry, O God;
Listen to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I call to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and weak;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I [a rock that is too high to reach without Your help].
For You have been a shelter and a refuge for me,
A strong tower against the enemy.
Let me dwell in Your tent forever;
Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.

TLB (The Living Bible)

O God, listen to me! Hear my prayer! For wherever I am, though far away at the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help. When my heart is faint and overwhelmed, lead me to the mighty, towering Rock of safety. For you are my refuge, a high tower where my enemies can never reach me. I shall live forever in your tabernacle; oh, to be safe beneath the shelter of your wings!

May God bless you and keep you this week - let Him be your safety, refuge, protection, and hiding place. Cry to Him and He will answer.
